Shopping inside Janabahaa Premises

It may not be the most desirable or a profitable place to set up a shop, but such display of all paraphernalia could affect the overall ambience of the place. The gov't of Nepal could take initiatives to provide support to set up more organized yet discreet display of such items, including providing subsidies to re-structure and re-architect the building facades to a more traditional looking designs that blends more naturally to the Janabahaa temple and the structures in the square.

Outside Janabahaa - Not so pleasant looking......

Although Janabahaa is not one of the 200 UN's Heritage Sites, it is very close to the hearts of many Nepalis. It will be to our advantage to make its surroundings cleaner and more attractive, specially at the entry and exit points. Result - More tourists and better experience. It might even contribute to better health and environment in the whole area!

Creating better ambience for Janabahaa....

With the iron grills around the Janabahaa structure it is already destroying the visual ambience of the place. On top of that another layer of squatters and small vendors as shown in this picture makes the place look more dirty, disorganized and less attractive for all. I am sure certain arrangments can be made such that the devotees and tourists can have a more pleasant experience going around the chowk.

Piegons - Source of beauty or divine mess?

There is belief that the piegons are the link to the human spirits and the food thrown by devotees are carried by these birds to the other side. While such beliefs and activities play a vital role in our culture and heritage the amount of mess they create by 'crapping' all over the stupas and religious relics and statues in the Janabahaa should also be taken into consideration. While the ambience of the Janabahaa is important strong efforts to limit the messiness and cleaning such mess on regular basis should be an ongoing effort. I am sure the devotees and the tourists alike would appreciate it....as we all know 'cleanliness is close to godliness'..

Janabahaa -Crowded out?

Wouldn't it look better if the houses surrounding the Janabahaa are not that tall and has a traditional architecture, at least on the facade facing the temple? It almost looks like the Janabahaa is trapped inside the modern concrete structures. The heveanly spirit needs a more open space to travel freely .....!

Power of Agni.....the need of this hour!

It doesn't hurt to get rid of some ignorance and pettiness through the power of the 'agni' carried by the Greek goddess. It shows that even fire - normally associated with destruction and evil forces - used correctly could yield positive results! Wisdom, insight and selfless contribution have become the true need of the hour to save the deteriorating ambience and physical structure of Janabahaa dyo temple. Let us unite to save this heritage, without which our own identity would be at a loss!
The one who shows to the world that how little one needs to get by in this world!

The Glory of Janabahaa Dyo Temple

The morning sun rays reflecting from the golden roof, piegons flapping their wings and the sweet aroma of various types of flowers welcome another day in Janbahaa temple.....
